Hello!
Today we have another one of those feasts that we have from the tradition of our Church. It is the Feast of the Holy Archangels, Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
We know of these angels only for the book of Revelations. When we envision angels, most of us remember these little pictures of babies with wings, Or we envision little girls with wings praying. But to tell you truth, we have no idea what they look like as they are pure spirits. So they can manifest themselves in any way to a person so that the person will recognize and understand them.
Angels are found, as I said in both the New and Old Testament. Yet we only see them as one of us. That is why we say that there are angels among us unaware.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “The man who has seen the rising moon break out of the clouds at midnight, has been present like an archangel at the creation of light and of the world.
Some say that angels are nothing more than a figment of our imagination. But we all have had times in our lives that someone has shown un just when we need them and then they are gone. I remember when I was at the supermarket and I was using one of those electrical carts. I went outside, put my bags in my car, as I was attempting to close the back of my car I could not reach the door. All of a sudden a voice came behind me saying “ sir, sir, I got it.” A young boy came running up closed the door and as I turned to thank him, he was gone. Now this might just be the mussing of an old man, but I say there and had this feeling that I was just visited by an angel.
Faith is a funny thing. It gets us through the tough times and enables us to believe in those better days that are promised. Can we explain faith? No. Can we live by faith? Sometime it is all we have.
