Hello, hope you all had a good weekend.
I have mentioned before that Ordinary Time gives us some “breathing room” between great feasts to reflect of what we have celebrated. In this case, the great feast of Easter.
We do not have to look far to find reflections on this great feast. Many known saints and many more unknow have written about that this feast brings to climax the drama of our salvation. Not too long ago, I came across the following by the great preacher Billy Graham. Rev Graham gives us this thought today. ” When that glorious day comes sin and death will be destroyed and Satan will be humbled. All the strafe and death that twist and scar this world will vanish and the Lord’s Prayer will be fulfilled.”
God’s Kingdom will come; His Will shall be accomplished. This is what we have just celebrated at Easter.
Yes, at Easter, we have surrounded ourselves with little chick and bunnies which represent newness of life. We try to put into words and images of resurrection, of the dead coming to life, not like life they left but a new and heavenly life which alludes our finite minds.
Yes, this is Ordinary Time, but this time gives an opportunity to reflect the end of the story, the tomb is empty, He is not here. He has been raised as He said. He goes before us to prepare a place for us so that where He is we also may be.
Peace and All Good,
